Exit12: Stories of War – on the intrepid museum in nyc

Exit12 Dance Company, co-founded by a US Marine Iraq War Veteran and a professional ballerina, is dedicated to using dance to spark dialogue about war, peace, and shared humanity. This Spring, Exit12 brings Stories of War to NYC’s Intrepid Museum for an immersive artistic residency that uplifts the voices of veterans, service members, military families, caregivers, and military supporters.

Exit12 and the Intrepid Museum partner again for our 4th annual movement workshop and performance series in honor of Memorial Day 2026. Over eight weeks, Exit12's workshops will foster expression, connection, and healing through movement. These guided movement explorations investigate themes of identity, resilience, and life transitions. Partner and group exercises promote collaboration and trust building, allowing participants to reflect and share their stories in our culminating performance on May 29, 2025. By sharing these stories we aim to build cross-cultural dialogue, empathy, and healing.

Over the course of the residency, participants will engage in movement and storytelling workshops, and collaborative creation alongside Exit12’s professional dancers. These workshops are open to all military-connected individuals—no dance experience required, just a willingness to move, share, and connect.

The residency will culminate in a live performance at the Intrepid Museum, where participants will perform with Exit12 and local artists in a moving work that honors resilience, identity, and the stories carried home from war.
